Overview
Printastar is a free tool for designing and exporting personalized night-sky star maps. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. Your map configuration (latitude, longitude, date, time, and visual settings) is processed in your browser and is only sent to our servers when you load star data or share a configured link.
We do not require an account to use the tool, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of essential cookies and local storage entries to remember your theme preference and protect against automated abuse.
Google AdSense
This site may display advertising provided by Google, including through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you.

Data we process on the server
When you load a map, your browser requests star data from our API. These requests are protected against automated clients and may be logged with your IP address and user agent for the limited purpose of preventing abuse and ensuring service reliability. Logs are kept no longer than necessary.

Payments
When you purchase a premium export, payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects your payment information (card details, billing address) and processes it in accordance with Stripe's Privacy Policy. We receive only a confirmation of the transaction and do not store your card details on our servers.
Your rights
If you are in Switzerland, the EU, or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Swiss residents may exercise these rights under the Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG, in force since 1 September 2023). To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@printastar.com.
